Chat rules and terms
Last updated: 29 October 2026
Sea Battle's online rooms have a chat. Everyone in the room, on both teams, sees what you write. By using the chat you agree to these rules. There is no tolerance for offensive content or abusive players.
The rules
- Be kind. No insults, bullying, harassment or threats.
- No hate speech or slurs about anyone's race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexuality or disability.
- Nothing sexual, and nothing violent beyond the game itself.
- Keep personal details private: yours and other people's. No real names, phone numbers, addresses, schools or social media accounts.
- No spam, scams, advertising or links.
- Nicknames follow the same rules, and can't contain phone numbers, email addresses or links.
How the chat is kept safe
- Filter. Offensive words are replaced with asterisks, and links, email addresses and phone numbers are hidden, before anyone sees them. Offensive nicknames are refused.
- Block. Tap Block next to a player's name in the chat to hide their messages on your phone, in every room. You can undo it in Settings.
- Report. Tap Report next to a player's name and pick a reason. The report and the room's recent chat are sent to the developer. The reported player isn't told who reported them.
- Automatic action. When enough players in a room report someone, that player's chat is switched off for the rest of the room and their messages are removed.
- Turn chat off. Settings > Room chat hides the chat completely.
- Private rooms. There is no public lobby. Only people who have your room code can join, and the host can remove players before the battle starts.
What happens to reports
Reports are read within 24 hours. Sea Battle has no accounts, so the developer acts on the player's id in the game: depending on what happened, that id can be banned from online play. Serious threats or illegal content may be passed to the authorities.
Terms of use
- Sea Battle is free to play. You may use it for your own, non-commercial fun.
- Don't cheat, attack the game server, or try to get around blocks, filters or removals.
- You're responsible for what you write. The developer may remove content or players that break these rules, without notice.
- The game is provided as it is. Online play may sometimes be unavailable, and features may change.
- On iPhone, Apple's standard licence agreement for apps also applies.
